The Taser model <br />currently used by the South Bend Police Department, the X26, is at its end <br />of life. Axon has stopped marketing, selling, and maintaining the X26 <br />Taser. The Axon Taser is an essential device carried by all officers of the <br />South Bend Police Department. The Taser is the primary intermediate use <br />of force device for the South Bend Police Department. The new X2 Tasers <br />would be purchased under Axon's TASER 60 five-year contract plan. The <br />Tasers would be delivered at the start of the contract plan. The plan also <br />includes warranty, replacement duty & training cartridges, and batteries for <br />the 5-year term. The initial payment in 2019 would be $86,108.00. The <br />total amount of the purchase over the 5-year period would be $525,788.00. <br />The funding source for the new Tasers would be the Continuing Education <br />Fund, account 4220-8126-421.22-24.
