16. <br />Board met in _regular session at 7:45 P.M. All members present. <br />Attorney Romig and Jas. A. Judie appeared before the Board and presented <br />plat of Springbrook acres , after some discussion the same was approved by the Board.. <br />Deferred hearing had on sidewalk and garb on south side of Calvert Street <br />from Chapin Street to Franklin Street, under Improvement' Res 0llation No. 443. In the City <br />of South Bend, Indiana. <br />In the above matter Attoxmey Shively and Mr. Fulk appeared representing <br />the Shively interests and objected to the putting in of t-rds sidewalk and curb, but no <br />further written remonstrance was riled. The Board after due considerate on decided to <br />defer same hearing; until Tuesday A, -gust ist.,1916. at 7:45 P.M. <br />Property owners from Chapin Street appearedbefore the Board in regard to <br />having Chapin Street widened .on the east side from Sherrill Street to Ewing Avenue. <br />Hr. D. M. Shively agreed to dedicate the land for the widening of said street if property <br />owners would agreed to drop the improvement resolution for sidewalk and curb on south side of <br />Calvert Street. The saute was agreeable with property owners on Chapin Street°, and Mr. <br />D. M. Shively agreed to bring deeds „in of `dedication of land for such widening :within <br />a month from t his date. <br />Petition received for a sidewalk and curb on Wilber Street from Lincoln <br />Way West to Elwood Avenue. The same was referred to the City Engineer for investigation. <br />The Board ordered that a resolution be prepared on petition for sidewalk <br />and curb on -Ninth Street from Pleasant Street to the River. <br />In regard to the paving of Jaquith Court from Chapin Street to Prairie <br />Avenue the Board ordered that the bids received June 13th.91916. should be and are hereby <br />,rescinded, and the Clerk was instructed to advertise. for bids as follows.: Resolved that <br />notices be published on the 28th. day of Jun 1910 and July 5th.3,1916. in .a newspaper <br />pf general circulation in said City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the <br />construction of said improvements up to 10:00 A.M. on the 18th. day of July 1916: The <br />Board reserves the right to reject any .and all bids. <br />Engineer :.Aled assessment roll and final estimate for grade, curb and <br />walk on South side of Ewing Avenue from Michigan Street to St. Joseph Street, under <br />Tmprovement Res Olut ion No. 428. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Resolved, that notices as' to the amou ts' of assessments be published for <br />six consecative days in the South Bend Daily Tribune, contending on the loth. day of <br />July 1916 stating that this Board will give a hearing on the amount of such assessments <br />at its office in the City Hall on the 18th. day of July 1916 at 7:45 P.M. <br />Resolved further that the entire work under the above contract be <br />accepted and approved and the final estimate4 thereola alloyed. Notice of this resolution <br />shall be published on the loth. day of July 1916 in the South Bend Daily Tribume, stating <br />that t is Board will give a hearing. ^n the acceptance of such work at its office in the <br />City Mall on the 18th. day of July `-1916 at 7:45 P.M - <br />Contract and bold for the construction Bf a pipe sewer on Bowman Street <br />from High Street to Miami Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 437 signed by Staples <br />and Ackerman and approved by the Board. <br />Contrast for the construction of curb walk and grading and gravel <br />pavement on Morris Street from Prairie Avenue to Ewing Avenue was awarded to H. L. Davis, <br />for the sum of 1,534.05. <br />Permission was granted to the Central Union Telephone Company <br />to place poles at various places in River Park streets also streets in the south part of <br />the city. <br />
