All members present. <br />f Hearing had on Improvement Resolution No. 415 for the Pavement of - <br />Michigan Street from North line of La Salle Avenue to South Line of South Street, In <br />the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Upon said hearing no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance <br />was filed. (P"roperty owners interested in the ¢mprovement of said street appeared and <br />discussed the different kind of material for pavements.) And the Board being fully <br />advised in the premises, decides that the benefits to property liable to be assessed <br />for said improvements are equal to the estimated cost of the same, as reported by the <br />City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution as originally <br />adopted, and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. <br />Resolved further, that notices be published on thy. s' day of March <br />and 16ths9day. of March 1916 in a newspaper of general circulation in said <br />City, stating that this Boar*1 receive bids for the construction of said improve- <br />ments up to 10:00 A.M. on the 'fy of Aprils 1916. -The Board reserves the <br />ri} t to re ject'sny and all bids <br />Mr. <br />C. Co <br />presented the <br />'following notice <br />and the., same was placed on file. <br />TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC MTk S of the City of <br />South Bend, Indian&' <br />The undersigned, the Chicago, South Bend h Northern Indiana <br />Railway Company, hereby notifies you that it hereby elects to improve that portion <br />of Michigan Street in the City of South Bend described in Improvement Resolution No. <br />415, wAich is occppled by the tracks of said Company and that portion thereof which <br />said Company is bound by contract with the said city to improve. Such improvement <br />will be made and constructed by said Company in the following manner'. <br />Metropolitan or other equally good paving brick to be used with <br />the exception of a line of nosed block adjoining the inside of the rails, such block <br />to be of hard stone knovez as Ligonier block or granite paving block. Said brick and. <br />block to be laid on the usual two inch sand filler, underlaid by six inches of con- <br />crete extending between the ties and underneath the rail. Underneath said ties and <br />concrete to be a further layer of six inches Of concrete, all to be subject to such <br />further detailed specifications as may be supplied by the City Engineer. <br />This notice and election is given and served under, and in <br />accordance with, the law of 1909 as set forth in the published acts of the General <br />Assembly of the State of Indiana for the year 1909 at pages 412,417,et seq. same <br />being Section 5710 Burnes R.S. 1914, and other laws and parts thereof applicable <br />hereto. <br />The undersigned further hereby requests your honorable body <br />to include the paving and improvement above mentioned and described and the cost <br />thereof in the general contract let by Your Board for the improvement of said <br />Michigan Street under said Improvement Resolution No. 415. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />CHICAGO t SOUT�'H BEND & NORTHERN <br />INDIANA RY. No action was taken. <br />
