irrr � l RESOLUTION �3 — 0., A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, PUBLICLY COMMENDING AND HONORING HOWARD W. BUCHANON II FOR HIS MORE THAN 38 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE ON THE SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT Offir©aa�, the Common Council notes that at the age of 5, Howard Buchanon II became fascinated by the roar of fire trucks and the red lights of ambulances as he grew up on the east side of South Bend, and later graduated from John Adams High School; and Offiomar , Howard Buchanon II's more than 38 year career on the South Bend Fire Department began when Fire Chief Jack Bland contacted him for a training class after a vacancy became available; and Offiomw, Howard Buchanon II's long career included many promotions — to the rank of Captain, then to become a Battalion Chief, then to be a Assistant Chief, before being named Fire Chief in 2007, by Mayor Stephen J. Luecke when he succeeded Luther Taylor who retired; and 094eueaa, Fire Chief Buchanon demonstrated on a daily basis his commitment to the South Bend Fire Department by being a shining example of the values, integrity, respect, pride, accountability and partnerships which are the backbone of this very dedicated, multi - faceted Fire Department.
