r-r <br />HEALTH AND PUBLIC SAFETY FEBRUARY 13. 2012 <br />Committee Members Present: <br />Other Council Members Present: <br />Others Present: <br />Agenda: <br />Dr. Fred Ferlic, Karen White, Henry Davis, Tim Scott <br />Derek Dieter; Valerie Schey, Gavin Ferlic, Oliver Davis, <br />David Varner <br />Catherine Toppel, Marcus Ellison, Kyle Chamberlin, <br />Kathy Cekanski - Farrand, Kevin Allen <br />Vacant & Abandoned Housing <br />Safety Concerns 4t" District <br />White there were no items for consideration on the evening agenda newly appointed Health and <br />Public Safety Chairperson Dr. Fred Ferlic asked for the opportunity for a brief report on vacant <br />and abandoned homes and to highlight recent safety concerns in the 4t" District. Dr. Ferlic also <br />used the forum to introduce his committee's two citizen members Marcus Ellison and Kyle <br />Chamberlin. He allowed that they were already working to address neighborhood concerns. <br />Marcus Ellison said he was exploring any available funding sources to address the city -wide <br />vacant and abandoned housing problems. Kyle Chamberlin was exploring ways to more <br />effectively use the disorderly housing, public nuisance ordinances already on the books. <br />Dr. Ferlic also asked Code Enforcement Director Catherine Toppel to give a brief update on <br />abandoned housing activity in her department. Catherine provided an extensive handout for the <br />Council's review. (Attachment) <br />Councilmember Tim Scott expressed appreciation for the work of Code Enforcement and to Dr <br />Ferlic's efforts to get a handle on both housing and public safety issues city -wide. <br />There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, Chairperson Dr. Fred <br />Ferlic adjourned the meeting at 4:38 p.m. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />Dr. Fred Ferlic, Chairperson <br />Health and Public Safety <br />
