June 10,1920. <br />Honorable Board of Public Works, <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />Uontlomen:- <br />Dfiring the years 1918 and 1919 we inspected your asphalt patUg on the <br />basis of 2,& cents persquareyard of asphaltic concrete and 3 cents per square yard <br />for sheet asphalt. Owing to the Vast increase in the cost of every element entering <br />into this form <br />I of inspection and the numerous. expo Z1Sive delays that will effect all <br />construction work this year, we repsectfully reques that our fee for the chemical <br />inspection of the asphalt paving constructed and awarded in your City during the <br />year 1920 be increased one-half pax cent per square yard -for each type ofpavement <br />making our total fee three (3) cents per square yard for alijphalt-46-1-ofterete <br />and three and one-half (3*) cents per square yard f, i )r sheetasphaltpaving.
