6, � 0 - OHS <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />PUBLICLY SALUTING AND HONORING MIKE COLLINS FOR A STELLAR JOURNALISM <br />CAREER AS A SOUTH BEND LOCAL NEWS ANCHOR AND NEWS DIRECTOR <br />%kmn,t, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes that Mike <br />Collins signed off from his last broadcast at WSBT -TV on Friday, November 30, 2007; and <br />0 4okeaa, the Common Council notes that this Pittsburgh native graduated with a <br />communications degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1967; and <br />O'figoeaa, since 1981, Mike has been loyal to his alma mater and thousands of Notre Dame <br />football fans who experience Mike's pure joy and excitement as he enthusiastically announces all <br />home grid iron games held at the Notre Dame Stadium; and <br />09L aa, the Council is especially proud to recognize that Mike began as a cub reporter at <br />WNDU -TV (Channel 16), where he worked hard to rise through the ranks to become News Anchor <br />and News Director until March of 1994, then briefly returned to Pittsburgh to serve as Executive <br />Director of the Three Rivers Stadium; and returned to South Bend in October, 1995 and joined <br />WSBT -TV as its News Director in September 1996 and diligently served in this capacity until his <br />retirement late last year. <br />c4 u, c Vk- tie it r.. 4,d, by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, as follows: <br />Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common <br />Council hereby publicly thanks and commends Mike Collins for his sincere dedication to an <br />exemplary journalism career during which he, utilizing the sound philosophies and ethics learned at <br />Notre Dame, reported with integrity, candor, wit and accuracy. <br />Section II. The South Bend Common Council is especially proud to recognize that Mike <br />Collins has brought honor to himself; his many former colleagues at both WNDU -TV and WSBT- <br />TV, his countless number of friends; and especially to the City of South Bend, Indiana, which he <br />staunchly supports and fights for as a "city person" to be a rich and vibrant community. The <br />Council sincerely wishes Mike, his wife Melissa, and their family all the best in the years ahead, <br />and hopes that they will continue to enrich our city with their presence and active participation. <br />Section III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by <br />the Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />Derek D.
