SpU TH 8F <br /> � G <br /> z s <br /> 1865 <br /> CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br /> PETE BUTTIGIEG, MAYOR <br /> OFFICE OF THE MAYOR <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> March 9,2012 <br /> Contact: Debra Johnson, Director of Communications <br /> Phone: 574-235-5853 <br /> SOUTH BEND FIREFIGHTERS HEAD TO HENRYVILLE,IN TO AID <br /> TORNADO DISASTER RECOVERY <br /> South Bend Six firefighters from the South Bend Fire Department departed for <br /> Hemyville, Indiana this morning to aid in the disaster recovery efforts from the tornado <br /> and storm damage that rocked the town last week. <br /> "South Bend is committed to help in the recovery efforts in Hemyville and we will lend <br /> our services anyway that we can," said Mayor Pete Buttigieg. <br /> Assistant Fire Chief James Lopez and firefighter Brian McLaughlin will assist the <br /> Indiana Clark County Tornado Incident Command Post. Captain Chris Baker, Lieutenant <br /> Steve Gervais and firefighters Derek Erquhart and Jim Biernacki will support firefighter <br /> and EMS operations by providing relief to firefighters currently in place. <br /> "It's always good for our Fire Department personnel to go and help a community," said <br /> Lopez. "We know that we're going to do some good." <br /> Volunteer and donation opportunities are available by visiting the official donation site at <br /> the old U.S. Census Bureau warehouse located at 700 Patrol Road, Charlestown, hid. <br /> Donators should follow the receiving signs to Gate 2. The donation management phone <br /> numbers are 812-287-0090 and 812-287-0026. The hours are 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. <br /> • Greatest needs are: money, non-perishable food items, paper products, gloves, <br /> heavy duty trash bags, personal hygiene items, baby items, cat food/dog <br /> food/kitty litter, yard tools, gas cards, new packages of socks and underwear, <br /> tarps, laundry baskets and totes, and towels and first aid supplies. <br /> • NOT NEEDED: Perishable/refrigerated/frozen items, Clothing.
