RESOLUTION NO. 863 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />COMMENDING JEANNE DERBECK FOR HER DEDICATION <br />AND ATTENTION TO THE SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />WHEREAS, Jeanne Derbeck has always believed in the public's <br />right to know as a key value in our democracy and has pursued that <br />belief through her journalistic endeavors; and <br />WHEREAS, Jeanne Derbeck has shown a unique capability of <br />understanding the undercurrents of various issues and has, through <br />her journalistic instinct for questions, often illuminated different <br />perspectives on issues; and <br />WHEREAS, Jeanne Derbeck has been a leader in women's issues <br />through her steadfast journalistic efforts; and <br />WHEREAS, Jeanne Derbeck has never been afraid to step out <br />early on issues and bring them to the attention of the public and has <br />been willing to take a risk on issues that need to be more thoroughly <br />explored; and <br />WHEREAS, Jeanne Derbeck has diligently covered the South <br />Bend Redevelopment Commission for many years and her questions have <br />stimulated the Commission and made the Commission cognizant of their <br />duties and responsibilities to the citizens of South Bend; and <br />WHEREAS, the Commission has awaited her response to the <br />President's query: "Are there any questions from the press, screen <br />and radio;" and <br />WHEREAS, Jeanne Derbeck has now decided to put down her pen <br />and retire her notebook. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the South Bend <br />Redevelopment Commission, that the name of Jeanne Derbeck be engraved <br />in the minutes of this meeting in commendation of her diligent and <br />dedicated reporting, and let it be know that the Commission's good <br />wishes go with her as she retires from the South Bend Tribune. <br />Adopted at a Rescheduled Regular Meeting of the South Bend <br />Redevelopment Commission, held on November 18, 1988 at the Office of <br />the Commission, 1200 County -City Building, 227 West Jefferson <br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana. <br />Michael Donoho <br />N <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />RED VELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />Paula N.
