South Bend Animal Care and Control (SBACC) and CARE of South Bend (CARE) have <br /> partnered with The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) to celebrate this national day of <br /> action,here in our community. "This is the third year that we are actively participating in this event <br /> and we are excited to help spread the word about the importance of spay/neutering for the health <br /> and safety of our pets and our community," stated Gary Libbey, Manager of SBACC. <br /> South Bend Animal Care and Control and CARE of South Bend will also be continuing a local <br /> partnership. In honor of Spay Day USA, several local veterinary clinics will be offering discounted <br /> pricing for spay/neuter procedures, on 2/28/12. All appointments must be scheduled and paid for <br /> in advance. <br /> Additionally,SBACC has coordinated with The Neuter Scooter Mobile Medical Services to host a low <br /> cost spay/neuter clinic,(cats only) for two days in February.Pre-registration is necessary. 'We are <br /> working together to help provide affordable programs, right here in South Bend," said Valerie <br /> Schey, CARE President. "We are thrilled with the response from our local veterinarians as we join <br /> forces to educate and encourage humane treatment of all animals." <br /> We invite the community to join us in one or all of the following ways: 1. Register to have your pet <br /> spayed or neutered. 2. Sponsor the spay or neuter of at least one animal - a friend or family <br /> members or a shelter animal awaiting adoption. 3. Join the South Bend Common Council on <br /> Monday, February 270 at 7 pm for a ceremony acknowledging Spay Day and honoring all the <br /> participating agencies. 4. Tune in on Tuesday, February 280 at 8:00 a.m. when Dr.Jolynn Rudman, <br /> DVM,kicks off Spay Day on the campus of Brown Mackie College. <br /> More than 4 million pets are euthanized in U.S.shelters every year due to a lack of homes. Every pet <br /> owner can play a role in reducing the number of animals that are euthanized. Have your pet spayed <br /> or neutered. Pet overpopulation is caused one litter at a time.
