ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING <br />JANUARY 1, 2007 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in <br />the Council Chambers of the County-City Building on Monday, January 1, 2007, at 5:00 <br />p.m. The meeting was called to order by Councilmember White and the Invocation and <br />Pledge to the Flag were given. <br />unT T raT T. <br />COUNCILMEMBERS: <br />Present: Derek D. Talboom <br />Council Attorney <br />City Clerk <br />Chief Deputy City Clerk <br />Deputy City Clerk <br />ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT FOR 2007 <br />Councilmember Kelly nominated Councilmember Rouse for the office of President. <br />Councilmember Dieter seconded the motion. Councilmember Kelly made a motion to <br />close the nominations. Councilmember Dieter seconded the motion. The motion carried <br />by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />ELECTION OF COUNCIL VICE-PRESIDENT FOR 2007 <br />Councilmember White nominated Councilmember Puzzello for the office of Vice- <br />President. Councilmember Kirsits seconded the motion. Councilmember White made a <br />motion to close the nominations. Councilmember Kirsits seconded the motion. The <br />motion carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON -COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE FOR 2007 <br />Councilmember Kelly nominated Councilmember White for the office of Chairperson, <br />Committee of the Whole. Councilmember Dieter seconded the motion. Councilmember <br />Kelly made a motion to close the nominations. Councilmember Dieter seconded the <br />motion. The motion carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />RE-APPOINTMENT OF COUNCIL ATTORNEY - 2007 <br />Councilmember Kelly made a motion to retain Attorney Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand as <br />Council Attorney for 2007. Councilmember White seconded the motion. The motion <br />carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />
