The Board granted <br /> ' per�ission. _ : <br /> ' The follo��ing men having passed phy$ical examinations given by the <br /> City_ Doctor and the poctor appointed by the r^irenen' s Pension Fund Trustees <br /> are now appointed as probationary �enber$ of the Fire Department: Robert <br /> Martin and Eugene, D, Luszkot+rski orho will. start 1•rork on February 12 1948 <br /> and Frank tdilliam Cosgrove who will start :oork on February 15, 194�, These <br /> men will receive the salary of those on a probationary basis� £or a period <br /> of six months� after which they will receive, the regular private�s salary. <br /> POLICE DEPARTf�!�TdT: Chief �erett oras present and matters pertaining to his <br /> departLnent were discussed. <br /> Applications for the Police Depart�ent t�ere approved and ordered filed <br /> for Clifton Henry Savage and Edmond Albert Hageriiers. <br /> The Chief asked permission to attend a meeting of the Indiana Traffic <br /> Safety Council in Indianapolis and the Board �ranted per�ission. <br /> ELECTRICAS, DF'PARTN�NT: 2�4r, 4lillian Qualls� Superintendent� was present and <br /> matters pertaining to his department were discussed. <br /> The Board authorized i�ir. Qualls to attend a meeting of the riidwestern <br /> Section of the International P.'unicipal Signa].nen's Association in Rocic Island� <br /> Illinois April 2nd and 3rd. , <br /> Mr. Qualls reco�:nended the installation of a street light at the alley <br /> intersection between Liain and Iiichigan Streets at dayton Street. The Board <br /> approved the reco�endation and directed i�,r. Qualls to order the light in. <br /> P-fr. Qualls inforned the Board that street lights ordered in at the foll- <br /> oorin� locations had been installed and t•rere now in service: Olive..and Calvert <br /> S�reets� the 1000 lunen light was replaced by a 4000 lunen light; calvert <br /> and ideade Streets; 0 'Brien and Hunboldt Streets ; Twyckenha� Drive and P•lonroe <br /> Streetg Hastings and 30th Street� On Victoria Street at the alley intersection <br /> bet���een Dale .and High Streets; Irornaood and ��rashington Street; Colfax an& <br /> Hawthorne; Colfax and Greenlawn; on Talbot Street bet4reen South Bend Avenue and <br /> Howard Street and at Victoria and St. Joseph Streets. <br />
