SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
RESCHEDULED REGULAR MEETING
December 21, 2011 1308 County-City Building
1:30 p.m. 227 West Jefferson Boulevard
Presiding: Jose Alvarez South Bend, IN 46601
The December 21, 2011 Regular Meeting of the Redevelopment Authority was called to order at
1:28 p.m. by its Vice-President, Carolyn Pfotenhauer. There was a quorum present.
1. ROLL CALL
Members Present: Ms. Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer, Vice President
Mr. Ray Thomas, Secretary
Member Absent: Mr. Jose Alvarez, President
Redevelopment Staff: Mr. Matt Sikora, Economic Development Specialist
Mrs. Jenny Hullinger, Recording Secretary
Ms. Cheryl Greene, Legal Counsel
Mr. Larry Meteiver, Legal Counsel
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
a. Approval of the minutes of December 6, 2011
Upon a motion by Ray Thomas, seconded by Carolyn Pfotenhauer, and unanimously
carried, the Authority approved the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 6, 2011.
3. NEW BUSINESS
a. Authority approval of Resolution No. 175 authorizing the transfer of real property
to the Redevelopment Commission
Matt Sikora said the Authority owns a number of properties that have been
managed by the Housing Development Corporation. As that commitment comes
to a conclusion, the Redevelopment Commission has been tasked with disposing
of the properties. There are twelve in the Monroe Park area that we are trying to
sell to people who will live in them, if possible. He asked the Authority to transfer
the properties to the Commission so they can be sold. They have been listed on
the market through Bruce Gordon, of Hallmark Real Estate, who has been trying
to find good buyers to purchase them. Presently a homeowner, Gil Michel, is
interested in purchasing two houses, 310 E. South St. and 602 Carroll Street that
are next to his and keep them as rentals. Since he is a responsible person, he will
be able to help stabilize the neighborhood. Mr. Thomas said he knew Mr. Michel
and was sure he would do a great job. The other property, 628 Rush Street, is
Li
being purchased by a former policeman who is now a military man. He wants the
house for his family for when he is stationed in Afghanistan.
