An application for the Fire Department wss received from 'lJayne Delbert Touvell and was ordered filed. PQLICE DEPARTP1IETdT: Chief Everett vras present and mat�ers pertaining to his department were discussed. � An application for tYie Police Department tivas received from Stanleq �Iodest Ladetivski and vras ordered filed� and one from George Bo3tor was re3ected because of lack of educational requirements and height . Chief Everett presented to the Board his roport for the month of August, 1945. • • ' A claim from Dr. Harmon amounting to �32.00 purpor�ing to be the Board expenses of madical examinations of six new police officars was denied by the for the roason that the expenses involved in this claim are expenses for which they claim are compensated for in his regular budgetary salary. A letter was received from Harry Henderson, a member of the Police Depar�nen�, indicating that he would like to retirQ from the Department because he is in ill health, and has put in 21 years of service. The Board appro ved his requ�st for retirement,sub3ect to his acceptance by the Trustees of the Police Pension Fund, effective October l, 1945. ELECT�ICAL DEPARTT�JIEPiT: P,4r. 'Nilliam G�ualls, Superintendent, was present and mattars pertaining to his department vrere discussad. Upon r.sr. Qualls recommendation, the Board approved the installation of a street li�ht at the intersection of Falcon and Dunham Streets, and I�4r. Qualls was authorized to apply for permission to ins�all same. b�r. Qualls. submitted a report on the conditions existin� on Corby Street near the intersection of St. Louis, and the Board approved the installation of a street light on the South Side of Corby S�reet at the alley opposite the North entrance �o St. Louis Blvd. , Upon Pdr. auall.s recommendation the Board �approved changing �he class- ification from underground to overhead on lights located at Lincoln '�Vay East and the Grand Trunk Railroad Tracks and on '+'Vashington Street and St. Paul Place. Mr. Qualls vras granted permission to -attend a convention of the Inter- national �dunicipal Signalmen's s�ssociation in Chicago November l�th to 15th. `J9EIGHTS ArdD NIEASURES: P,7r.
