To properly complete the Gates property acquisition formerly approved by the Commission at its special meeting on the 18th of January, it was determined that the properties needed to be on the acquisition list of the Redevelopment Commission to allow the Commission to acquire the property rather than having the parcels donated to the Board of Public Works. A map of the three parcels is attached to this staff report. Based on the schedule needed to amend the plan, the step of adding the properties to the acquisition list should meet the proposed closing schedule of the project. The properties have previously been appraised at $115,000 and that is the negotiated price the Commission will ultimately pay for the properties as part of the previously approved administrative settlement. Staff requests approval of Declaratory Resolution 3006 to amend the South Bend Central Development Area Development Plan to add three properties to the acquisition list. Staff also requests to schedule a public hearing for the confirming resolution at the Commission meeting scheduled for March 13th or March 27th depending on the date of Council approval.
