REGULAR MEETING August 27, 2018 <br /> Councilmember John Voorde made a motion to send Bill No. 40-18 to the Personnel and Finance <br /> Committee for their September 24th, 2018 meeting Second Reading and Public Hearing and for <br /> Third (3rd) Reading on October 8th, 2018 in the Council Portion Only. Councilmember Karen <br /> White seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of eight (8) ayes. <br /> 41-18 FIRST READING ON AN ORDINANCE OF THE <br /> COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING, <br /> ADOPTING AND APPROVING THE SOUTH <br /> BEND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION <br /> CORPORATION'S 2019 BUDGET AND <br /> LEVYING THE TAX AND FIXING THE RATE <br /> OF THE TAXATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br /> RAISING REVENUE TO FUND THE SOUTH <br /> BEND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION <br /> CORPORATION, SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING DECEMBER <br /> 31, 2019 <br /> Councilmember John Voorde made a motion to send Bill No. 41-18 to the Personnel and Finance <br /> Committee for their September 24th, 2018 meeting Second Reading and Public Hearing and for <br /> Third (3rd) Reading on September 24th, 2018. Councilmember Gavin Ferlic seconded the motion <br /> which carried by a voice vote of eight(8) ayes. <br /> UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> Councilmember Oliver Davis asked, Have our Utilities and Public Health persons been able to <br /> send out an email for our second (2"d)meeting? Same thing about the transit summit? <br /> Council President Tim Scott replied, I will get an answer to you guys this week. <br /> Councilmember Karen White announced,Our next budget meeting will be this coming Wednesday <br /> at 5:00 p.m. The department presenting is the South Bend Police Department. <br /> Councilmember Jo M. Broden asked, Are there any changes in that schedule overall for those <br /> hearings going forward? <br /> Councilmember Karen White replied, Yes, changes will be forth coming. The City Clerk and I <br /> will be meeting with our City Controller to look at the schedule to ensure the topics forthcoming <br /> with have ample time. We hope to make those changes by this Wednesday. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Councilmember Oliver Davis asked, Is there any way we could send flowers or condolences to <br /> McCain's thing? From our City? Just thought about it. <br /> Council President Tim Scott stated, We can take that into consideration. <br /> Councilmember Jo M. Broden stated, As our rep for MACOG, the Michiana on the Move <br /> Transportation Plan is being looked at. That is a long-range transportation plan for our region. <br /> There is a survey under move245.macog.com and that is open for comments until September 16th, <br /> 2018. This plan will be a blueprint for how Federal, State and Local funds are invested. We are all <br /> encouraged to give input to that survey. On a smaller scale,the Northshore Triangle Neighborhood <br /> is doing a visioning session on September 13'x', 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Neighborhood Resources <br /> Connection Center. Last item, if I may, yesterday was Women's Equity Day. Twelve (12) local <br /> women were honored and one(1) of them were none other than Councilmember Regina Williams- <br /> Preston. I would like to give a shout out to Nancy Flores, Diana Hess, Penny Hughes, Judge Jean <br /> 9 <br />
