ot 2011 Annual Report of the Utilities Committee <br />of the South Bend Common Council <br />Date: December 2, 2011 <br />To: The South Bend Common Council <br />The Office of the City Clerk <br />From: Council Member Oliver Davis, Utilities Committee Chairperson <br />I am pleased to file this 2011 Annual Report of the Utilities Committee. This report is required <br />pursuant to of § 2 -10 (i) of the South Bend Municipal Code. <br />2011 Utilities Committee Members: <br />There were four (4) Council Members on this Committee, namely: Al "Buddy" Kirstis, who served <br />as Vice - Chairperson, Ann Puzzello, Tom LaFountain, and myself. We did not have any citizen <br />members serving this year. <br />Duties : <br />The Utilities Committee is charged with the following: <br />"Oversees the activities of all enterprise entities including but not limited to <br />the Bureau of Waterworks, Bureau of Sewers and all related matter ". <br />Meetings: <br />As of the date of this Annual Report, the Utilities Committee has met five (5) times this year. <br />In August, we received a detailed presentation on the special rate contract with the University of <br />Notre Dame. The handout from this presentation is on file with the Office of the City Clerk. <br />In November, we received more information on the proposed improvements to the Water Works <br />operations and gave a favorable recommendation to the Council on the issuance of revenue bonds in <br />an amount not to exceed $8.3 million. In light of a bond issue being retired next year, the bond will <br />not result in a rate increase to customers. <br />
