23� � <br /> � <br /> � <br /> � <br /> � <br /> MEETIPIG J��I�TUt-�Y 3, 15�9 <br /> Regular meeting of the Boara of Safety was held on Tuesday, Janu�r,y <br /> 3, 1939, at 5: 30 A.M. l�11 members �n-ere present. <br /> Minutes of the pr�vious meeting were read and ap�roved. <br /> FIRE DEP�+.RTIJTENT: Chief DeVleeschower present: <br /> Matters pertaining to the Fire Dep�rtment v�rere discussed tiv�ith the <br /> Chief. The Chief was authcrized to buy suff.icient coal for emergency <br /> needs: ene ton was ordered for Station 18; one carload of' stok�r coal <br /> was ord�red for Central Fire Station and one carlood of coal was crdered <br /> to be divided ec�ually among all fire stat�ons, including tne alarm <br /> station, with the exceptior� of Station No. 2 and Central. <br /> �J Application fcr a position on the Fire Department was �resented <br /> � by I�Sichael Bognar, age 33 af 2I7 S. Scott Street and was ordered placed <br /> on file. <br /> P OLICE DEFARTNiF�tiT: Chief Lane �resent: <br /> Chief Lane presented to the Board the annual report for I9�� and <br /> also the report of the Police Department f'or zhe month of December, <br /> which re�orts were placed an file. A capy of this re�ort was ordered <br /> to be turned over to Chief Ingram upon his assuming office. <br /> Applications for nositicns cn the Police Department wer� presented <br /> by E.4nery Fredericl� IJlolnar, age 23, of 1338 N.Elmer Street, and t�l.exander <br /> G. Nagy, age 29, of 2118 S. Morris Street, and were ordered placed on <br /> file. <br /> The Board auth� rized the replacement o� a uniform and cap for <br /> Officer Casimir Kubiak to replace tY�e uniform wnich was destrayed in <br /> an accident which occurred <br /> DOG POtT�ID: <br /> John Se�.rles, Pound Pdaster was present and explained �the functions <br /> of his office and Phillip Jordan, the new Pound I�laster•, was �lso present <br /> and �aas instructed by the Boa_rd as to what would be required of him. <br /> �dEIGHTS & ?�I�ASUR�S: <br /> Charles Burns, City Se�ler, was nresent and �rrnlaine� the nee� <br /> for a phone �:n his office.
