The Board concurred in the request of the <br /> Chief to f'urnish him with a Fire Chief Badge, same type as furnished <br /> to pensioned fi remen and ordered the Clerk to purch�se same. <br /> Appl3.cation for a position on the Fire Department was received <br /> from Ray Gorka and ordered placed on file. <br /> POLICE D�.PI�RTIvIF;ttiT- Chief Lane present: <br /> The Chie� sub�:itted the month?y report oP the activities of the <br /> Pvlice Department for the month of June, copy of�vhich is placed on file <br /> and a copy furnished each member oP the Board. <br /> The monthl;� report of the Tr�ffic Bureau was submitted by the <br /> Chief, copy of which is placed on file in the oPfice of' the Bo�rd of <br /> Safety and a cop� fllrnished each member oP the Board. <br /> A communication was received from Traffic Engineer Miller submit- <br /> ting a complaint from R. .L. Fr�e of 633 North M�in �treet, cor_cerning a <br /> pipe railing between the sidev�ralk and curb in front of the Epvrorth Hos- <br /> pital Nurses HoMe, in which Mr. �Ziller advised that this creates a traf- <br /> ric hazard. The Board reauested the Clerk to communicate with t�te Hos- <br /> r�ital authorities asking the� to have it renoved. <br /> Traffic E�gineer Miller reportad the experience of the last 90 days <br /> of the loading zone established at 136 South Michigan Street and recomr�end- <br /> ed that it be maintained due to the fact that it really is an improve- <br /> ment over previous double parking and police officers report an improve- <br /> raent in traffic conditions at this locatio�. The Board concurred in this <br /> report. <br /> Traffic Engineer Pdiller m�de a final report upon the establishment of <br /> loading zones at the High School �n Colfax Avenue and recom.nended that the <br /> loadin g zon es be continued with a change in the tvording on the si�ns, <br /> addin� "On school days", wnich would permit parl�ing during school vacation� <br /> and restrict parking when schools are in session. The Board concurred in <br /> trlis report and the signs �vere ordered c;�anged. <br /> Special Police Commission Bond in favor of Paul PJI.
