Roberts leave of absence of 60 d�ys <br /> from June 5 to August 5 in�he hope of restoring his health. <br /> Chief Freeh reported that FireLnan Henry Sibrel had been in the <br /> habit of coming late to work and cnlled him before thF Board and rec- <br /> ommended that he be reprimsnded for conduct unbecoming to a Fireman. <br /> The Boara, after discussin� the matter and talking to Hen ry Sibrel, <br /> decided to suspend him from pay for two weeks. � <br /> ELECTRIC�.L DEP�RTI!Z�t�T-Mr. C�ua.�.I.s present: <br /> Matter•s pertaining to the operation of the Electrical Department <br /> were aiscussed v�ith N:r. 6;ualls. <br /> P�LICE DEP�TI+i'r�IT-Chzef Lane present: <br /> The Board �called in the Mayor, Supt. 6;ualls and Officer LaP.ue <br /> � ti"�'ert �rrith reference to some investigation that had been made regarding <br /> t�vo-vY�y radio for police cars. A full discussion was had and it w�s <br /> decided th8t the Chief, Supt. �ualls, an d Off'icer Wert meet e.t an early <br /> convenient time and bring in a complete report to t he Board of the e�uip- <br /> '' �Lent reauired and the expense contemplated for the installatien of a <br /> sample set upon the perf'ormance of which would depend the installation of <br /> this two-way redio in other police cars, all to be subject to determin a- <br /> tion by the Controller when funds �re available. <br /> Tra#'fic EnginEer l�7ill�r subr�itted a report of the results of traP- <br /> fic accidents since the removal one year ago of eleven overhead T'stop <br /> t�nd go" signals, showing that removal of these si�n.als very definitely <br /> reduced traffic hazards And accidents. This report is on file in the <br /> office of the Board of Public Safety. <br /> Traffic En�ineer Miller submitted a report of the request of Mr. <br /> J. F. Ponahue whose business is located at Idiles Avenue and LaSalle, <br /> requesting sn �mloadir.g zone in front of his place of business. Mr. <br /> h7iller reported that he did not think the Board was justified in grant- <br /> ing this request �nd passed on this recor�.�endation. � His report w�.s <br /> fully concurred in and Mr. Donahue v�as so notified. . <br /> Application for a position on the Police Depart,�ent v;as received from <br /> Peter D. Mandick and plsced on file. <br /> V�EIGFiTS AND'ME�SURES ' <br /> � rdr. Burns submitted his report for the work done during the Vreek <br /> ending June 18, shoy��ing 262 inspections made.
