Permission� was granted. <br /> ELECTRICAL DEPARZiVIr.�tT - Mr. �,ualls present: <br /> Matters pertaining to the operation o#'the Electric�l Dep�rtment <br /> were discussed with Mr. �ualls. <br /> Mr. Qualls regorted on the request for additional Iight in the <br /> vicinity of CarlisZe Street and Dunham: After investi�ating' the mat- <br /> ter, Mr. Qualls_ recommended tha.t a 100(7:lumen light be erected at � <br /> this intersection. The Indiana Michigan Electric Company were ordered <br /> to make the installation. <br /> Mr. Qualls reported upon the request nP the additional light in <br /> the vicinity of the First linited Brethren Church and after carefully <br /> investigating this, he found that it was not a question of additi�nal <br /> Iight but that the trees were in need oP proper tri�ming in the vic- <br /> i�ity, which would produce greater efficiency of the 1"ights now -in. <br /> use. Mr. �ualls was requested to see the Pastor of the Church and <br /> explain the situation to him. <br /> POLICE DEPARTbiFNT - Chief Lane present: <br /> A petition reo1uesting the establishment of stop signs at- four <br /> intersections of Erskine Blvd, south of Ewing, was reported upon by <br /> TrafPic E�gineer Miller, in which it was brought out that th e volume <br /> of traffic . does not �ustif� the installing of signs, but th�zt: greater <br /> visibility would be obtained .if the shrubs an d trees at th e: variou s <br /> intersections _ were trimmed. This matter w�s rePerred to Mr. tinderson <br /> and Mr. Zillmer who v�rill person�lly investigate an d report to the <br /> Board. <br /> Mr. I�iiller reported his investigation of the parking conditions <br /> on Dunh�m Street between Prairie Ayenue and Cha.pin �reet, and recammen- <br /> ded that since the roadwe�r is narrow that parking .be eliminated on the <br /> south side of the street. This recommendation.. was approved and orders <br /> were given to establish the no parking zone. <br /> The Board took action with reference to supplping peint for the <br /> coming seeson. Conpetitive �bids were offered a�7d it was found that <br /> the paint on which the �Ot�rien Varnish Company quoted was in every way <br /> advantagesus to the City and the bid therefore was ordered placecl <br /> with them through thei r dealers. <br /> A request was received -for the reguls�ion of parking on Sherman Av- <br /> � enue between Oak and Zincoln i�sy ��est. The matter was referre�to Traf- <br /> fic F7ngineer Miller. <br /> �V�IGHTS AND MEASURES <br /> lVrr,. Burns submitted his report of the� ac�ivities oP his Department <br /> for the week ending��May�-28, showing- 323 inspections made. This report <br /> is on file in the off�ce- of the Board� -of �Publie� SaPety. <br />
