�� MEETING Mav 31. 1938 Regular meeting of .the Board o� Putilie Safety was held on Tues- day, May 31, at 92a6 A. M. �r. Hunter was absent. Dtiinutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Willette Service Sta. ,19�.60 FIRE DEP�.R�iv[II�1T - Cr,ief Freeh present� - The Chief requested that '�no .parking" signs be erected on Wayne Street in Pront oP the Central-_Fire Station an� this was agreed to �.nd the matter was rePerred to Traffic E�igineer �1iiller for executian. The Chisf requested permi�sion to purchase a safety �aet for Fire Station No. 9. Permission� was granted. ELECTRICAL DEPARZiVIr.�tT - Mr. �,ualls present: Matters pertaining to the operation o#'the Electric�l Dep�rtment were discussed with Mr. �ualls. Mr. Qualls regorted on the request for additional Iight in the vicinity of CarlisZe Street and Dunham: After investi�ating' the mat- ter, Mr. Qualls_ recommended tha.t a 100(7:lumen light be erected at � this intersection. The Indiana Michigan Electric Company were ordered to make the installation. Mr. Qualls reported upon the request nP the additional light in the vicinity of the First linited Brethren Church and after carefully investigating this, he found that it was not a question of additi�nal Iight but that the trees were in need oP proper tri�ming in the vic- i�ity, which would produce greater efficiency of the 1"ights now -in. use. Mr. �ualls was requested to see the Pastor of the Church and explain the situation to him. POLICE DEPARTbiFNT - Chief Lane present: A petition reo1uesting the establishment of stop signs at- four intersections of Erskine Blvd, south of Ewing, was reported upon by TrafPic E�gineer Miller, in which it was brought out that th e volume of traffic . does not �ustif� the installing of signs, but th�zt: greater visibility would be obtained .if the shrubs an d trees at th e: variou s intersections _ were trimmed. This matter w�s rePerred to Mr. tinderson and Mr. Zillmer who v�rill person�lly investigate an d report to the Board. Mr. I�iiller reported his investigation of the parking conditions on Dunh�m Street between Prairie Ayenue and Cha.pin �reet, and recammen- ded that since the roadwe�r is narrow that parking .be eliminated on the south side of the street. This recommendation.. was approved and orders were given to establish the no parking zone. The Board took action with reference to supplping peint for the coming seeson. Conpetitive �bids were offered a�7d it was found that the paint on which the �Ot�rien Varnish Company quoted was in every way advantagesus to the City and the bid therefore was ordered placecl with them through thei r dealers. A request was received -for the reguls�ion of parking on Sherman Av- � enue between Oak and Zincoln i�sy ��est. The matter was referre�to Traf- fic F7ngineer Miller. �V�IGHTS AND MEASURES lVrr,.
