RESOLUTION NO. 3663-06
<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,
<br />PUBLICLY COMMENDING THE BROWN INTERMEDIATE CENTER BOYS' SOCCER TEAM
<br />FOR WIlVNING THE 2006 SOUTH BEND SCHOOL COMMUNITY CORPORATION'S
<br />CITY CHAMPIONSHIP
<br />~l~eaa, the Common Council of the Ciry of South Bend, Indiana, is proud to recognize
<br />that the Brown Intermediate Center program is designed to meet the academic, social, emotional
<br />and physical needs of 5th through 8th grade students by providing quality educational instructional
<br />programs, and also provides opportunities for boys to learn and enjoy the sport of soccer; and
<br />G~~eaa, the Council notes that this academic year,- Brown has a student enrollment of
<br />707, had an attendance rate of 94.3% for the past academic year and provides creative learning
<br />studios, physics lab, independent research, technology based instruction, state of the art computer
<br />labs, accelerated math and foreign language programs and problem-solving instruction; and
<br />~~eaa, the Common Council would especially like to publicly recognize Head Coach
<br />Dustan Harley and the following named student-athletes of the Brown Intermediate Center
<br />Boys Soccer Team and all of the individuals associated with the "Home of the Bisons" who
<br />scored 85 goals this season while only giving up 4 goals to their opponents, who recorded 7
<br />shutouts:

<br />Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the Ciry of South Bend, Indiana, the Common
<br />Council hereby congratulates each and every member of the BROWN INTERMEDIATE CENTER
<br />BOYS SOCCER TEAM along with their principal, Margaret Lewis, and their Athletic Director,
<br />Mahlon Lowery, for winning the SOUTH BEND CONIIVIUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION'S 2006
<br />SCHOOL TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP.
<br />Section II. The South Bend Common Council believes that the hard-work, discipline, and
<br />dedication of the student-athletes on the BROWN INTERMEDIATE CENTER BOYS SOCCER
<br />TEAM has enabled each boy to be an excellent role model with each team member bringing the
<br />highest of honors to himself, his family and friends, the Brown Intermediate Center, the South Bend
<br />Community School Corporation and all of the residents of the City of South Bend, Indiana.
<br />Section III . The Common Council wishes the BROWN INTERMEDIATE CENTER BOYS
<br />SOCCER TEAM the very best in the years ahead, both in the classroom and on the soccer field as
<br />they experience and learn from the value of such athletic competition as being an integral and vital
<br />part of the total school experience where such activities provide opportunities to learn the values of
<br />competition and good sportsmanship, while pursuing educational excellence in the classroom.
<br />This solution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by
