All members were present. <br /> Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br /> Requisitions in the Fire Department nurnbers 03817 to 03820 and <br /> in the Police Department nuMbers 811 to 815, inclusive, were approved. <br /> Claims, from the fbllowing suppliers, in the amount of �1,285.74 were <br /> approved an.d ordered paid. <br /> McCaffery Company �10.44 St. Joseph's Hospit�l �150.90 <br /> McCsffery Company 10.80 So. Works 462:60 <br /> Sid Bartlett 5.00 City Water Vdorks 625.00 <br /> FIRE DEP�RTMEIVT - Chief Freeh presEnt: " <br /> Matters pertaining to the oper�tion of the Fire Department were <br /> discussed with the Chi.ef. , <br /> The Chief reported that smoke pipe at No. 7 Hose House is out <br /> of repa_ir and should be replaced at once. The Board authorized this <br /> and instructed the Clerk to have it done at once. <br /> POLICE D�ARTMENT - Chi�f Lane present: <br /> A communication was received from the Chi.cago South Shore and <br /> South Bend Railroad regarding stop signs recently requested, in which <br /> they withdrew their request for signs at Olive and Birdsell Streets <br /> but again requested stop sign at Hydraulic Avenue. The Board agreed <br /> to install this. They were advised and City Traffic Engineer Ernest <br /> n4iller was instructed to install the sign. <br /> A petition was received, signed by a considerable number of <br /> residents in the x�est end, asking that the Police Department station <br /> an officer at Prairie Avenue end Sample Street, Prairie and Chapin <br /> Street and Prairie and Scott Street betv�reen the hours of 7:a0 and <br /> 8:00 in the morning. The first signer on this was Reverend Michael <br /> . Os��ald and the petition was referred to the Chief of Police, so �hat <br /> he may consult with the petitioners and make a recommendation at <br /> the next rueeting. <br /> WEIGHTS & It2EASURES DEPARTMENT - Mr. Burns present: <br /> Mr. Burns submitted his report of the activities of his <br /> department for the past week showing 219 inspections made. This <br /> report is on file in the office of the Board of Public Safety. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 9:30 A.
