All members were present. <br /> Minutes of the previous meetin� were�-read •and approved. <br /> Requisitions in the Fire Department numbers 03764 to 03767 and <br /> in the Police Department numbers 687 to 704, inclusive, were approved. <br /> Claims in, the amount of �248.53, from- ths follotiving suppliers, were <br /> approved and ordered paid. <br /> William Million �5.02 So. Bend Wholesale Drug Co. �5.10 <br /> J'ohn Hite 44:50 Toledo Seale Co. 25.�0 <br /> River Park Radio 1.00 Willette Service Station 3.50 <br /> Business Systems, Inc. 1.15 So. Bend Sand & Gravel Corp. 1.50 <br /> Irid..,Paint & Wallpaper Co. 99.75 Everett Hyatt 30.00 <br /> Berman's� Sport Goods Store 24.36 Kuert Concrete, Inc. 5.75 <br /> G. 0.� Thurn 2.40 <br /> FIRE DEPARTMELVT - Chi e f"`Fre eh p re s ent: <br /> Matters pertaining to the operation oP the Fire Department were <br /> discussed with the Chief. <br /> A communication was received from C1am Smith, Chief of the State <br /> Fire Ma�shal Department, cnlling� attention to- desirability of inember- <br /> shiP in the National Fire Protection Association at an- exDense of <br /> ten dollars per year. The Board authorized this expenditure. <br /> FLECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - MT. Qua�lls present: <br /> Mr. Qualls reported having superi:ntended the cutting and replac- <br /> ing of wires to move a house -for �J'ohn Adamski � from 2613 West Monroe <br /> Street to 427 Camden Street and �having collected �p6.50 for this service. <br /> Mr. Qualls reported with reference° to- recommendation of Francia J. <br /> Bock for_the purchase of a receiving set,� as outlined in his commun- <br /> ication of June 18th and recommended that this be purchased. The Board <br /> authorized the expenditure and Mr. Qualls was instructed to make the <br /> necessary arrangements. � � . <br /> Mr. Qualls reported that he had made a request of the Indiana & <br /> Michi�an Electric Company for the installation of a street light at <br /> William and Calvert Streets and that a 1000 lumen lamp would be <br /> installed as soon as the Company could arrange to do it. . <br /> POLICE DEPAR�EIVT - Chief Lane present: <br /> The present serious illness of Officer Arden Kline was discussed <br /> with the Chief and, due to the seriousness of the case, it was agreed <br /> that he would be retained on the regular Police Force until other •. <br /> action became necessary in the near future. . <br /> Officer Miller reported regarding the removal of overhead traffic <br /> signals at Bronson and Monroe Streets on Lincaln Way East and it was <br /> decided to have these signals removed at once. � <br /> Officer Miller reported regarding the stop sign at the inter� <br /> seetion of LaSalle Avenue and Greenlawn, suggesting that it be removed, <br /> in which the Board concurred. <br /> � The Board discussed the question� of shrubbery growing in the <br /> parkways at various intersections and causing hazards from the stand- <br /> point of safety. After discuss�ng this matter, it was decided that - <br /> the City'Attorney draw up a form to be used in notif'ying property <br /> owners of the situati�on and requesting them- to take the necessary <br /> steps to remove the hazard. <br /> The Police Department reported racilroad crossings of the <br /> Pennsylvania Railroad at various locations. �n the City were in need of <br /> re�air. The Clerk of the Board was directed to communicate with the � <br /> Railroad and ask them to have� these repairs made at onee. <br />
