Claims in the amount of �98.05, fron the �'ollav�ing <br /> suppliers, were approved and ordered paid. <br /> St. Joseph's Hospital �45.50 <br /> � St. Joseph's Hospital 52.55 <br /> FIRE DEPARTTvTENT - Chief Freeh present: <br /> The Chief submitted his report o�' the activities of the Fire <br /> Department for the year 1936, which report is on file in the of�'ice <br /> of the Board of Public Safety. <br /> A comr;iunication �vas received from a committee a�pointed by the <br /> South Bend Firemen�s l�ssociation, requestin� the Board to authorize <br /> the payment of their regular pay if injured vn their day of�'. It v,�as <br /> regularly moved, seconded and carried that this comrnunication be <br /> referred to tne State Representative, tiNalter S. Arnold, and the <br /> Firemen's Association was so noti�'ied. <br /> The Chief requested tne privilege of purchasing 1600 ft. of i'ire <br /> hose at this time, due to tne necessity o�' replacing this much or <br /> more hose at once �'or tn.e various stations. The Bo�rd authorized him <br /> to purcnase the above� amount, it l�eing understood that bids shall be <br /> received from various hose manufacturers and tnat the ord�r be split . <br /> four ways if price and qu�lity justify it. <br /> POLICE DII'ARTP�I�'11TT & ELECTRICA.L DEPT. - Chief L«ne and T�Zr. G�ualls present: <br /> The matter of radios for the new police cars was discussed by the <br /> Bo�rd with Chief Lane and T�Tr. �ualls and it tivas decided to install the <br /> old radios taken from cars being traded in a�'ter the Electrical Depart- <br /> r�.ent has put them in first-class condition. It ivas also agreed that <br /> if the present order for the netiar Philco radios cannot be cancelled <br /> entirely, that one new Philco �vill 'oe placed in the armored car, <br /> recently �urchased, and one in a cruiser. It was also agreed to <br /> purchase radio antenna for the new cars. <br /> The Board also discussed the nlatter of cooberation in the Elect- <br /> ric�1 Department and �the forr�er decision of the Board tivas con�'irmed <br /> tnc�t the Radio Department was in charge oi' ldr. �ualls, suPerintendent <br /> o�' the Electrical Department. <br /> Regular monthly report of the Accident Prevention Bureau was <br /> submitted to tne Board and a copy furnished each member. This report <br /> is on file in the o�'�'ice of the Board of Public Safety. <br /> Request w�s received from G. �. Bursley 8c Company oi' Elkhar� for <br /> � loading zone occupying the space of six cars on ��tiestern Avenue at <br /> �2ain Strzet. The Board did not feel justified in granting this request <br /> and the Bursley Comp any was so notified through a personal call 1�y <br /> their manager, TVIr.
