3 MEETING March 9, 1936 Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety v�as held on Monday, March 9 , 1936, at 8:45 A. �4. All members v�ere present. IJiinutes of previous meeting �vere read and approved. Claims in the amount of �1,088.44, f'rom the following suppliers, were approved and ordered paid, also payroll of the various departments amounting to .�16,998.04 for the first half of T�arch. Requisitions in the Police Department numbers 08907 to 08923, inclusive, were approved, also requisitions in the Fire Department number 3280 and 3319 to 3322, inclusive. . Ind. He asked permission and same v��as granted to purchase 1,300 f t. of 22 in. Double Jacket Fire Hose and 200 ft. of 12 in. He also requested the privilege of purchasing t�vo suto- mobile tires for #4 Hose House equipment. The Board recommended that this be purchased from Harry '��lillette. Application for position on the Fire Department was received from LeRoy Northrup and ordered placed on file. �,LECTRICAL DEPAR'I��NT - l�r. Qualls present: Iyqr. �,ualls stated that he had a considerable aecumulation of .waste paper tape from fire alarm equipment and the Board requested him to secure bids on this, so that the matter can be submitted to the Common Council and sale of the waste tape be authorized. ° POLICE DEPARTMIIVT - Chief Lane present: k eommunication f'rom the L�iayor, directed to the Board of Public Safety �ith ref'erence to necessity of police making intelligent reports of accidents and arrests, �as discussed vrith the Chief and the Board referred the matter to hin to consult with the Mayor and report some concrete plan to be adopted. Officer Leo Berner havin� submitted medical exa�-nination certi- ficate from the police doctor �aho recommends him as a favorable applicant the Board, upon regular motion seconded and carried, confirmed its forr�er action to place Officer: Berner regularly on the Police Forc� as of July 15, 1926. The Chief of Police discussed �ith the Board the activities of the Detective Bureau since chan�es and transfers have been made in that department and suggested, due to the favorable activities of Sergeant ti�hitmer, that he be promoted to the rank of Captain. This matter, af ter being fully discussed, was deferred until the next regular meeting. The matter of to�ing wrecked and stolen cars was discussed with the Chief and it was decided to extend the present arrangement until the Yirst meeting in April. Police application of Raymond J.
