Co. • 28.10 <br /> Radio Distributing Co. 1.18 George Wyman Co. 43.00 <br /> POLICE DEPARTP�iENT: Upon the recommendation of Police Chief Everett, the <br /> oard approved the promotion of Officer Carl Shafer to Desk Sergeant <br /> and Sergeant Byron Roe to Captain, to take effect SEptember 15, 1943. <br /> FIRE DEPAR TT�ENT: Chief DeVleeschower was present and matters pertaining <br /> to his department were discussed. . <br /> Letters were sent to four dealers asking for bids on the following <br /> described items; on each of which the cost was less t han �500.00: <br /> 1 Booster Tank, having a capacity of at least 100 gallons, made <br /> from Armco Ingot sheets or equal. <br /> "��. ' 1 Turret Nozzle, Larkin U iversal or equal, Three way with 12rr� <br /> 1 3�4tt and 2'� discharge tips. _ <br /> 1 Light Generating Unit, t�o sizes 600 watt and 1250 watt. <br /> Fire ladders, wood, Douglas f ir stock or equal, 2 30 Foot trussed <br /> side extension ladders, 2 26 foot extension ladders, 2 18 foot solid <br /> side wall ladders. <br /> These bids were invited and will be received under the terms of Chapter <br /> 129 of the Acts of the 83rd Indiana General Assembly. <br /> The Superintendent of the y'dater �'dorks appeared before the Board and <br /> reported that the Board of '�Nater 'r''Jorks Trustees had directed him to request <br /> the use of off duty firemen frori the Board of Public 'r'lorks and Safety for <br /> the purpose of reading meters. After a complete discussion, upon motion <br /> duly made, the follotiving resolution �ras adopted; RESQLVED: that the <br /> me:nbers oi t'r_e r ire Depart.nent on a_ voluntary basis, may be permitted to <br /> be, emp�oyed by the City ►'Jater �'�lorks. for the purpose of reading meters,at <br /> a rate per. hour established for meter readers, and that the Chief of the <br /> Fire Department is directed to make such txrork available to such £�remen <br /> on. an equal basis as nearly as that.may be possible. And resolve further, <br /> that this variation in the rules concerning emplo9ment for firemen shall <br /> be. limited. to t he work hereinabove specified. . <br /> Applications for special Police Commissions were approved for Glen Walte <br /> Gvrin and a_ renezval for a Special Police bond was �pproved for Samuel W. <br /> Hicks.
