DERosE <br /> CITYATTORNFY CBiF.P AsssrANT CmYArroRNEY <br /> November 16, 2011 <br /> Mr. Derek Dieter, President <br /> South Bend Common Council LA\ �D- <br /> 4rh Floor County-City Building <br /> South Bend, IN 46601 <br /> RE: Proposed Amendment to the Northeast Neighborhood <br /> Development Plan <br /> Dear President Dieter: <br /> Attached for the Common Council's consideration is a proposed resolution which <br /> approves an order of the St. Joseph County Area Plan Commission approving a <br /> declaratory resolution adopted by the South Bend Redevelopment Commission. <br /> This process began when the South Bend Redevelopment Commission (RDC) <br /> conducted a study and determined that it is necessary and beneficial to the orderly <br /> redevelopment of the Northeast Neighborhood Development Area (NNDA) to amend the <br /> Development Plan for the NNDA. The declaratory resolution of the RDC was sent to the <br /> St. Joseph County Area Plan Commission (APC) for an order approving the RDC's <br /> action. The APC's resolution (No. 224-11) is now submitted to the South Bend City <br /> Common Council for its approval. <br /> This amendment to the Northeast Neighborhood Development Area Plan revises <br /> sections of the existing Plan, updates the document and modifies existing Plan exhibits in <br /> order for the Plan to better reflect the future goals for the area by taking into account <br /> recent, or soon to be completed, developments such as Eddy Street Commons and State <br /> Road 23 improvements, including the reconfiguration of the Five Points Intersection. <br /> Either Liz Maradik or another staff member from the Division of Economic <br /> Development will present this Resolution to the Common Council. <br /> Thank you for your consideration. u r } <br /> Sincer <br /> t�t•�- <br /> ce J. e eier <br /> Assistant Cit Attorney <br /> CITY C r <br /> TBoMAs L.
