DERosI; <br /> CirYATTORNFY CHIEF 1ST�lNTkC' ATTORNEY <br /> November 16, 2011 <br /> Mr. Derek Dieter, President �w <br /> South Bend.Common Council ; 1 , <br /> 4'h Floor County-City Building <br /> South Bend, IN 46601c { <br /> RE: Proposed Addition of various parcels to the Airport Economic <br /> Development Area Acquisition List <br /> Dear President Dieter: <br /> Attached for the Common Council's consideration is a proposed resolution which <br /> approves an order of the St. Joseph County Area Plan Commission approving a <br /> declaratory resolution adopted by the South Bend Redevelopment Commission. <br /> This process began when the South Bend Redevelopment Commission (RDC) <br /> conducted a study and determined that it is necessary and beneficial to the orderly <br /> redevelopment of the Airport Economic Development Area (AEDA) to add various <br /> parcels to the AEDA Acquisition List. The declaratory resolution of the RDC was sent to <br /> the St. Joseph County Area Plan Commission (APC) for an order approving the RDC's <br /> action. The AFC's resolution (No. 222-11) is now submitted to the South Bend City <br /> Common Council for its approval. <br /> The first parcel is located at 401 N. Bendix Drive and is adjacent to the Bosch <br /> complex. Adding this parcel would allow for broadened development possibilities at the <br /> Bosch site as we look to future users and potential plans for expansion. The other three <br /> parcels are located at the 1300 block of South Michigan Street. This is an area in which <br /> the City owns a number of individual parcels within the block so acquisition of the sites <br /> would allow for better site control and a more developable, marketable site. <br /> Either Matt Sikora or another staff member from the Division of Economic <br /> Development will present this Resolution to the Common Council. <br /> Thank you for your consideration. <br /> ince <br /> 'L ce J. etelver <br /> lstant City Attorney <br /> THomAs L.
