52 <br />AuguSig, 31 <br />Board met in regular session at 10:00 A.I. All members present. <br />✓ Mrs. Jacob Kuntz appeared Before the Board and Piled a, remonstrance against <br />an asphalt plant of the Western Construction Company being located at,Vandalia <br />Ry. Company's round house yards on south Lafayette Str_Pet as same was regarded as a <br />nuisance. The Board referred the above mentioned remonstrance to the City Attorney <br />for c. report. <br />Communication received from V. G. ?ones Attorney, in regard to petition <br />'filed for opening of South Scott Street from Sample Street to Three"I" Tracks, <br />The Board instructed the clerk to notify Mr. Jones that said petition was up for <br />hearing last year and turned down, and as they think this territory which this stret <br />opening would affect) will be platted very soon. <br />Attorney W. G. Crabill appeared before the Board and remonstranced against <br />the Widening of Indiana Avenue and Webster Street representing Mr. J. D. Oliver. <br />Pole and Wire Inspector reported that Poles at 1st. alley north of Portage <br />Avenue on Vassar Avenue betweellWoodward Avenue and Portage Avenue, also ah <br />Allen Street between Birner Street and Oak Street were already moved inside curb <br />line,per City Engineer's instruction, the above report was approved by the Board. <br />Petition filed for pavement on Indiana Avenue from Leer Street to Miami St. <br />✓ The same was read and referred to the City Engineer for investigation. <br />Permission granted the Central Union Telephone Company to set one pole <br />on the south side of alley between Grace and Huron Street and Meade and Olive Street <br />Communication received from Joseph P. Pink, Clerk of the Board of Public <br />Works of Indianapolis, Indiana in regard to record book for ale ctric lights. <br />Same read and placed on file. <br />Mr. Crabill informed the Boa d that the reason the Gr^_nd Trunk and <br />e Western Ry. Company had not replan heir crossings in this city was due to not <br />being able to get suitable crossing plank, but would give this their immediate <br />attelition as soon as new planking arrived. <br />STREET OR AiLEY IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO.. 407. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD Or PUBLIC WORKS OR THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />ST. JOSEPH COUNTY,STATE OF INDIANA, that it is desired and deemed necessary to <br />improve Keasey Street from Michigan Street to Carroll Street as follows, to -wit: - <br />By grading and paving the roadway, also by grading and paving the road- <br />ways of all intersecting and entering streets and alleys lying within the property <br />lines of slid Keasey Street not included in the roadway; by paving said roadways <br />with either Asphalt, Asphaltic Concerte, Brick or Bitulithic laid on a five (5) <br />pinch Portland Cement cuncrete foundation, or with brick laid on a six (6) inch <br />rolled gravel foundation; by placing the necessary marginal cement curb; by curbing <br />the roadway with cement curb where same is not already constructed; and by the <br />construction of all necessary storm water inlets end conduits; all as shown on .the <br />plans and in accordance with the profiles, detail drawl. -is and specifications on fie <br />file in the office of the DepP.rtment of Public Works of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana. <br />The cost of the improvement herein provided for_, except street and <br />alley intersections , shall be paid by special assess-ent to be levied upon the <br />property specially benefitted, to the amounts that the same maybe legally assessed <br />therefor, in accordance with an Act of the General Assemble o the State of Indiana <br />entitled "An Act Concerning Municipal Corporations," approved March 6,1905, and <br />in accordance with and purusant to the provisions of all acts amendatory and <br />supplemental thereto. <br />
