740 <br />Board met in regular session at 10:00 A.A. All members present. <br />Mr. Irvin Jackson appeared befor the Board and presented a petit.on foe <br />water main, the same was referred to the Water Works Dept., - <br />Bids were received, opened and read for curb and sidewalk on Dubail Avenu efrom <br />the west line of High St. to West Line of Dale Avenue: The same were referred. to the <br />City Engineer for tabulation. <br />Mr. 'Geo. M. Urey appeared beforethe Board and petitioned in the -interest of <br />the Trustees of the Brethern Chuech of South Michigan to elose for a period of two <br />,--'weeks the alley between Paris and Pennsylvania Avenue and between Michigan and the first <br />alley east thereof. The permission was granted. <br />Contrators bond for the amount of One Thousand ($1,000.00)Dollars was filed <br />by C.L.Headley and approved. <br />Remonstrance filed against pavement on Allen Street from Van Buren Street to <br />v Portage A venue . The Board ordered same placed on file. <br />Mr. Forest Hillier en-DPared before the Board, in regard to assessment on <br />High; Street Trunk sewer. The Board advised Mr. Hillier that they would reduce Martha <br />E . Hillier assessment to One Thousand Dollars, the same was agreeable with Mr. Hillier. <br />Communication received and placed on file from Central Union Tel. Co. <br />/ advising Board that pole at 705 W. Wayne Ste was removed. <br />In regard to complaint about pole in way of cement sidewalk in .fron tof <br />622 We Division St. The` Pole` anti wire inspector reported that this is a Grand Trunk <br />Tel. 00. pole and should be removed entirely and the wires put underground. Recommended <br />holding same up for a while. <br />The following communications was received and placed on file. <br />To the Honorable Board of Public Works <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen: - <br />please find communication presented to our Board at its regular <br />meeting he__ d_ last Friday Morning from Chief Kerr. <br />We respectfully refer this request for more office room to your Honorable <br />Board, trusting that you will see the matter in the same light we do, and the nec- <br />essity and impeetance of providing more room for this departemtn in the near future. <br />Hoping that you will take favorab�e action on this matter as soon as pos- <br />sible, I am, <br />Yours truly, <br />B. President Board of Public Safety. <br />To the Honorable Board of Public Safety, <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana.' <br />Gentlemen:- <br />I wish to call your .attention to the Bertillion and Finger Print Department <br />The fact is that this room is all together two small for the work being donein it,and <br />/ the records have been tampered with, and it is necessary to keep the index cards and <br />✓ records in perfect order, and this can be done only by keeping them in a room where the <br />general public cannot handle them,and I would respectfully suggest that the matter of <br />more room be taken up by your Honorable Body with the Honorable Board of Public Works. <br />I beg to remain, <br />Respectfully yours, <br />NILLARD F. KERR, <br />Chief of Police. <br />Mr C. D. Emmons of the Chicago, South Bend & Northern Indiana Ry. Company <br />,/ appeared before the Board, and informed the Board that he had no underground wiring to <br />do, but that he would clean up his wires in the underground district. He also submitted <br />a blue print of changing his tracks from Lincoln Way East along Ennsperger Street east, <br />and making the necessary repairs in the street and placing curb and gravel sidewalk <br />and putting everything in good condition. The same was agreeable with the Board. <br />
