Martin; Clerr <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION OCTOBER 19 2011 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in the Executive Session on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at <br />8:30 a.m. The meeting was held in Classroom No. 1, Central Fire Station, 1222 South Michigan <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana for the purposes specified in I.C. 5-14- 1.5 -6.1 (b) (6) (A). Board <br />Members Bruce BonDurant, Patrick Cottrell, and Eddie Miller were present. Board Member <br />Laura Vasquez was absent. Also present were Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar, Police Chief <br />Darryl Boykins, and Fire Chief Howard Buchanon. Board members did not discuss any subject <br />matter other than the subject matter as specified in the Public Notice. M <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />ber <br />OCTOBER 19 2011 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in the regular meeting at 9:17 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, <br />2011, with Board Members Patrick D. Cottrell, Bruce J. BonDurant, Laura Vasquez and Eddie <br />Miller present. Also present were Police Chief Darryl Boykins, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon <br />and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />The meeting was held on the Apparatus Floor, Central Fire Station, 1222 South Michigan Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />ACCEPT MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS <br />Mr. Cottrell stated unless there were objections, the minutes of the Agenda Review Session, <br />Executive Session, and Regular meeting of the Board held on September 21, 2011 would be <br />accepted as presented. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />APPROVAL OF HIRING AND SWEARING IN OF PROBATIONARY FIREFIGHERS <br />- Chad Bartalone <br />- John Bella <br />- Justin Lachmund <br />- David Tague <br />- Justin Watkins <br />In a letter to the Board, Chief Howard Buchanon, recommended that the above individuals be <br />accepted for employment on a probationary basis with the South Bend Fire Department effective <br />October 19, 2011. In his letter, Chief Buchanon noted that all of the firefighters have <br />successfully completed the physical and psychological testing required by State Law, and have <br />
