LUECKE,MAYOR <br /> .DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION& FINANCE <br /> GREGG M ZIENTARA <br /> CONTROLLER <br /> October 19, 2011 <br /> Mr. Derek Dieter <br /> President, South Bend Common Council <br /> O'Floor, County-City Building <br /> South Bend, IN 46601 <br /> re: Ordinance of the Common Council Appropriating monies for Maintenance of Alonzo Watson <br /> Pedestrian Bridge traversing Chapin Avenue in the City of South Bend <br /> Dear President Dieter: <br /> City Administration, after further discussion with Council, community leaders and citizen groups, <br /> concerning the matter of disposition of the Alonzo Watson Pedestrian Bridge traversing Chapin Avenue, <br /> herewith submits this appropriation spending bill for consideration of the Common Council. <br /> The request for spending appropriation is $250,000, with funding provided by City Fund #404, County <br /> Option Income Tax (COIT). <br /> The appropriation includes Public Works Department of Engineering estimate of the cost of required <br /> maintenance expense necessary to return the structure to a safe and stable condition enabling use of the <br /> bridge by pedestrians traversing Chapin Avenue.
