South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br /> Regular Meeting—October 11, 2011 <br /> 6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) <br /> B. Airport Economic Development Area <br /> (7) continued... <br /> Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by COMMISSION APPROVED THE PROPOSAL FOR <br /> Mr. Varner and unanimously carried, the CLOSE-OUT OF THE AIRGAS AND ZIOLKOWSKI <br /> Commission approved the proposal for close- DEMOLITION PROJECTS IN THE AMOUNT OF <br /> out of the AirGas and Ziolkowski demolition $9,522.50. <br /> projects in the amount of$9,522.50. <br /> (8) Staff report on Commission's involvement <br /> in Regional Fire Training Center. <br /> Mr. Schalliol gave an update on the <br /> Commission's involvement in the Regional <br /> Fire Training Center project. The proposal <br /> and the Master Agency Agreement presented <br /> previously included three components: site <br /> design, utility design and the actual fire <br /> tower building design. <br /> At the September 27 meeting, the <br /> Commission authorized approval, subject to <br /> final understanding of the funding. The city <br /> and airport are close to agreement on the <br /> funding sources. Staff is requesting approval <br /> to fund the above items. Contractors are <br /> ready to proceed; proposals will come before <br /> the Commission at either the October 25 or <br /> November 8 meeting with a full proposal of <br /> the Commission's involvement in the project. <br /> The total amount of funding being asked for <br /> is $206,900. Staff is working with legal to <br /> require reimbursement of TIF funds for the <br /> expenses as they are expended. <br /> Mr. Varner asked if approval is requested <br /> based upon the understanding that it be <br /> refunded. Mr. Schalliol replied yes, as it is <br /> able to be refunded throughout the project. <br /> 26 <br />
