OF COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - MICHAEL BEITZINGER <br />SUBJECT: REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT PETITION FOR: <br />r SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION ON BEHALF OF: <br />DESIGN PACKAGING, INC. <br />PARCEL NO. 1, SOUTHEAST CORNER OF <br />t <br />BRONSON STREET AND LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD <br />i <br />DATE: APRIL 18, 1995 <br />On April 18, 1995, petitions for tax abatement consideration for real and personal <br />property located at the southeast corner of Bronson Street and Lafayette Boulevard were <br />filed with the City Clerk by the South Bend Redevelopment Commission on behalf of <br />Design Packaging, Inc. Pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 6, Section 2 -77 of the Municipal <br />Code of the City of South Bend, the petitions were referred to the Department of <br />Community and Economic Development for purposes of investigation and preparation of <br />a report determining whether the area qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area <br />pursuant to I.C.6 -1.1- 12.1 -1 and whether all zoning requirements have been met. <br />The Department of Community and Economic Development has reviewed the petitions <br />(copies of which are attached), investigated the area and makes the following report. <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />Design Packaging proposes to build a new 42,000 sft. manufacturing facility on 3.1 <br />acres of land located at the southeast corner of Bronson Street and Lafayette Boulevard, <br />which is the location of the former Transwestern Building. Design Packaging designs and <br />manufacturers corrugated packaging products. The new building will house the main <br />offices, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution operations. The total cost of the new <br />building is estimated at $950,000.
