PARCEL NO. 1, SOUTHEAST CORNER OF t BRONSON STREET AND LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD i DATE: APRIL 18, 1995 On April 18, 1995, petitions for tax abatement consideration for real and personal property located at the southeast corner of Bronson Street and Lafayette Boulevard were filed with the City Clerk by the South Bend Redevelopment Commission on behalf of Design Packaging, Inc. Pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 6, Section 2 -77 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, the petitions were referred to the Department of Community and Economic Development for purposes of investigation and preparation of a report determining whether the area qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area pursuant to I.C.6 -1.1- 12.1 -1 and whether all zoning requirements have been met. The Department of Community and Economic Development has reviewed the petitions (copies of which are attached), investigated the area and makes the following report. PROJECT DESCRIPTION Design Packaging proposes to build a new 42,000 sft. manufacturing facility on 3.1 acres of land located at the southeast corner of Bronson Street and Lafayette Boulevard, which is the location of the former Transwestern Building. Design Packaging designs and manufacturers corrugated packaging products. The new building will house the main offices, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution operations. The total cost of the new building is estimated at $950,000.
