Leases <br />~ Operating Leases <br />The govemment has entered into various operating leases having initial or remaining noncancel- <br />ableterms exceeding one year for telephone services, vehicles, and office space. Rental expen- <br />ditures paid during 2002 for these leases were $196,948. The following is a schedule by years of <br />future minimum rental payments as of December 31, 2002: <br />2003 $ 182,840 <br />2004 78,302 <br />2005 44,919 <br />2006 25,399 <br />Total $ 331,460 <br />2. Capital Leases <br />The government has entered into various capital leases for fire equipment, an ambulance, golf <br />course equipment, a softball complex, and a parking garage. The parking garage capital lease is <br />being repaid from governmental funds. Future minimum lease payments and present values of <br />the net minimum lease payments under these capital leases as of December 31, 2002, areas fol- <br />lows: <br />42 <br />
