2006, 2007, 2008 South Bend Police Department Salary Ordinance <br />Page 2 <br />ordinance, excepting the Police Chief, Division Chiefs and Captains who are governed <br />by Indiana Code § 36-8-1-12. <br />Section II. Annual Pays and Lateral Entry. <br />(a) Annual Pay for Sworn Members of the South Bend Police Department: <br />Annual pay for the sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department for calendar years <br />2006, 2007, and 2008 shall be as follows: <br /> End of Year <br />Rank 2006 2007 2008 <br />Police Chief $72,506 $74,319 $76,920 <br />Division Chiefs $66,511 $68,174 $70,560 <br />Captains $57,398 $58,833 $60,892 <br />Lieutenants $49,467 $50,703 $52,478 <br />Sergeants $47,437 $48,623 $50,325 <br />Corporals $45,714 $46,857 $48,496 <br />1St Class Police Officer $41,000 $42,025 $43,496 <br />2006 annual pays reflect a two percent (2%) increase for the first six (6) months and an <br />additional one percent (1%) increase for the last six (6) month period. For example, a 1St <br />Class Police Officer would receive semi-annualized pay of $20,400 during the first six <br />(6) months of 2006 and asemi-annualized pay of $20,600 during the last six (6) months <br />of calendar year 2006. <br />(b) Annual Pay for Entry Level Officer: The following entry level pay <br />classification is established as follows: <br />2006 2007 2008 <br />$40,000 $40,500 $41,000 <br />(c) Lateral Entry: The Council authorizes the South Bend Police Department to <br />offer between $1,000 to a maximum of $3,500 as a one-time bonus to any individual <br />found to be eligible and qualified to be a candidate on the department who has the . <br />requisite law enforcement experience and certification(s) for such a lateral entry onto the <br />department. <br />Section III. Additional Areas of Compensation. <br />(a). Maximum Amounts. All monetary amounts set forth in this ordinance shall <br />be the maximum amounts permitted in each calendar year addressed. <br />
