RESOLUTION NO. 1739 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION COMMENDING <br />HARDIE BLAKE FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE TO THE <br />SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />WHEREAS, many people express concern about urban problems and their impact upon <br />the community: and <br />WHEREAS, some people demonstrate their concern by personal involvement in the <br />process of seeking solutions; and <br />WHEREAS, a very few people are both willing and able to bring a degree of dedication <br />and leadership that culminates in real, measurable progress, enriching the life of the community; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Hardie Blake has shown such leadership by honorably serving as a member <br />of the South Bend Redevelopment Commission from March 1998 to November 1999; and <br />WHEREAS, during his tenure on the Commission Hardie has had an active role in <br />projects such as the Blackthorn golf course, Blackthorn Corporate Park, new housing in the <br />Southeast neighborhood and the West Washington- Chapin Development Area, the Leighton <br />Plaza project and the Morris Performing Arts Center; and <br />WHEREAS, during the tenure of his service the quality of life of the residents of South Bend has <br />improved as a result of the contributions of the time, knowledge, good judgement and steadfast <br />efforts of Hardie Blake; and <br />WHEREAS, Hardie has never forgotten the public that he serves and has been committed <br />to the public process of decision making. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the South Bend Redevelopment <br />Commission hereby recognizes Hardie Blake for his commitment and distinguished service to <br />the South Bend Redevelopment Commission and the City of South Bend, thanks him for the <br />outstanding contributions he has made, and declares it will sincerely miss his insight and <br />presence at future meetings. <br />ADOPTED at a meeting of the South Bend Redevelopment Commission held on <br />February 4, 2000, at 1308 County -City Building, 227 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, <br />Indiana 46601. <br />SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />BY: i <br />Robert W.
