RESOLUTION NO. 1706 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION COMMENDING <br />EUGENIA S. SCHWARTZ FOR EXTRAORDINARY SERVICE TO THE <br />SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />WHEREAS, Eugenia S. Schwartz has served as a member of the South Bend <br />Redevelopment Commission since January 1997; and <br />WHEREAS, Genie previously served as the Redevelopment Commission's attorney from <br />1983 through 1987 during her tenure as Assistant City Attorney, Managing Attorney and City <br />Attorney for the Department of Law, City of South Bend; and <br />WHEREAS, her keen legal mind, insight and attention to detail have been invaluable to <br />the Commission insuring that all of the is have been dotted and the is have been crossed; and <br />WHEREAS, during her tenure on the Commission and as attorney for the Commission <br />Genie has had an active role in projects such as the 1st Source Center, the East Bank and East <br />Race Waterway, Monroe Park, Teachers Credit Union, One Michiana Square, Coveleski <br />Stadium, Blackthorn Corporate Park, Southeast Heritage Housing, the St. Joseph County <br />Juvenile Justice Center, the Boys and Girls Club at Family and Children's Center - Southeast, the <br />new campus of Ivy Tech State College, Robertson's Apartments, Leighton Plaza and the Morris <br />Performing Arts Center; and <br />WHEREAS, Genie has always looked for a way to make projects happen in a way that <br />benefitted South Bend; and <br />WHEREAS, Genie has always shown uncommon courtesy and concern for people <br />affected by the decisions of the Commission: and <br />WHEREAS, Genie has never forgotten the public that she serves and has been committed <br />to the public process of decision making, recognizing its importance as necessary and beneficial <br />to the decision being made; and <br />WHEREAS, Genie has now decided to retire and move to her hometown of Greensboro, <br />North Carolina; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the South Bend Redevelopment <br />Commission hereby recognizes Eugenia S. Schwartz for her commitment and distinguished <br />service to the South Bend Redevelopment Commission and the City of South Bend; thanks her <br />for the outstanding contributions she has made; and declares it will sincerely miss her insight, her <br />diligent work and her presence at future meetings. <br />ADOPTED at a meeting of the South Bend Redevelopment Commission held on August <br />20, 1999, at 1308 County -City Building, 227 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana <br />46601. <br />SOUTH EDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />BY: <br />Robert W.
