REGULAR MEETING APRIL 11, 2011 Mr. Robert Berger, 1617 Provincial Drive, South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for this bill. Mr. Berger advised that he and his wife Maria are planning to construct an approximately 2,300 to 2,500 square foot, single-family home. The home will have eight rooms and two and one-half bathrooms. The cost of the home is expected to be between $275,000 and $320,000. Mr. Berger noted that because they are unsure of final cost they added 12.5% to the higher value to cover any additional costs. Total taxes to be abated during the five (5) year abatement period are estimated to be $6,068 at the $275,000 level and $2,346 at the $360,000 level. Total taxes to be paid during the five (5) year abatement period are estimated to be $9,310 at the $270,000 level and $17,832 at the $360,000 level. A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this Resolution, Councilmember Rouse made a motion to adopt this Resolution. Councilmember Henry Davis seconded the motion which carried and the Resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of nine (9) ayes. LOUIS BLVD. (APPROX. 344 FT.) THE FIRST NORTH-SOUTH ALLEY EAST OF HILL STREET BETWEEN CEDAR STREET AND MADISON STREET (APPROX. 410 FT.) This bill had first reading. Councilmember Varner made a motion to refer this bill to the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee and set it for Public Hearing and Third Reading on May 9, 2011. Councilmember White seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. BILL NO. 15-11 FIRST READING ON A BILL AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 4124 OLD CLEVELAND RD, SOUTH BEND, IN 46628, COUNCILMANIC DISTRICT ONE (1) IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA This bill had first reading. Councilmember White made a motion to refer this bill to the Area Plan Commission. Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. BILL NO. 16-11 FIRST READING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING ORDINANCE #9967-09A TO READJUST CERTAIN DISTRIBUTIONS FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2009 WITHIN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FUND (#212) This bill had first reading. Councilmember Puzzello made a motion to refer this bill to the Community and Economic Development Committee and set it for Public Hearing and Third Reading on April 25, 2011.
