WHEREAS, in accordance with the Act, the Commission desires to amend Resolution No. <br />737 by contracting the South Bend Central Development Area to remove the following described <br />area hereinafter referred to as "Reduction Area No. 1" in order to facilitate and enhance the <br />replanning and redevelopment of the South Bend Central Development Area, which Reduction Area <br />No. 1 is more particularly described as follows: <br />Beginning at the intersection of the centerlines of the East Race and LaSalle Avenue; thence <br />East along said centerline of LaSalle Avenue to a point 110 feet West of the West right -of- <br />way line of Niles Avenue; thence North 159.25 feet; thence East 110 feet to the West right - <br />of -way line of said Niles Avenue; thence Easterly to the Northwest corner of Lot 71 in the <br />Original Town of Lowell; thence East along the North line of said Lot 71 to the centerline <br />of the first North -South alley East of Niles Avenue; thence North along said centerline of <br />said Alley to the centerline of Madison Street; thence East along said centerline to the <br />centerline of Hill Street; thence South along said centerline to the centerline of LaSalle <br />Avenue; thence East along said centerline to the centerline of the first North -South alley East <br />of Hill Street projected South; thence North along said centerline and its projection South <br />to the centerline of the first East —West alley North of Cedar Street; thence West along said <br />centerline to the West right -of -way line of the first North -South alley West of Hill Street; <br />thence North along said West right -of -way line to a point 372 feet South of the South right - <br />of -way line of Corby Boulevard; thence Southwesterly, a distance of 260.82 feet; thence <br />Northwesterly, a distance of 85 feet; thence Southwesterly, a distance of 222 feet to the <br />Northeasterly right -of -way line of Niles Avenue; thence Northwesterly along said right -of- <br />way line, a distance of 312 feet; thence Northeasterly, a distance of 199.95 feet; thence <br />Northerly to the South right -of -way line of Corby Boulevard to a point 378.66 feet West of <br />the first North -South alley East of Niles Avenue; thence West along said South right -of -way <br />line and its projection west to the East shore of the St. Joseph River; thence Southeasterly, <br />Southerly and Southwesterly along said East shore to the centerline of the East Race; thence <br />Southeasterly along said centerline of the East Race to the place of beginning containing <br />50.04 acres more or less; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 17.5 of the Act provides for the means for amending a resolution or <br />plan in a way that enlarges the boundaries of a redevelopment area by not more than twenty percent <br />(20 %) of the original redevelopment area or adds one (1) or more parcels to the list of parcels of <br />property to be acquired; and <br />WHEREAS, consistent with the Act, the Commission has previously caused to be prepared <br />certain maps and plats of the South Bend Central Development Area, and has supplemented said <br />maps and plats of the South Bend Central Development Area by causing to be prepared additional <br />maps and plats depicting the South Bend Central Development Area and Reduction Area No. 1; and <br />WHEREAS, said maps and plats of the South Bend Central Development Area and <br />Reduction Area No. 1 show the boundaries of said areas, the location of the various parcels of <br />property, streets, alleys and other features affecting the acquisition, clearance, replatting, replanning, <br />rezoning or redevelopment of said areas and parts of the areas that are to be devoted to public ways, <br />levees, sewerage, parks, playgrounds and other public purposes under the plan for redevelopment <br />of the South Bend Central Development Area as modified herein; and <br />WHEREAS, the South Bend Central Development Area as contracted and reduced by <br />Reduction Area No. 1 shall hereinafter be referred to as the "South Bend Central Development <br />Area "; and <br />-5- <br />
