South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting -October 20, 2006 <br />6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) <br />E. Airport Economic Development Area <br />continue ... <br />providing funding from the TIF area to be <br />used in accordance with Indiana statute. <br />Or a new redevelopment area could be <br />established, including other properties that <br />could potentially be assessed at a higher <br />value in the future to capture more increment <br />and more benefit. <br />Staff recommends that property owners and <br />interested groups present an acceptable plan <br />to the Redevelopment Commission to <br />determine which alternative is the most <br />effective action to complete the goals of that <br />plan. <br />Mr. King thanked the staff for its <br />investigation and preparation of the <br />subsequent report. He noted that the staff <br />and the Commission are asking the <br />neighborhood group to help develop a plan <br />for the area. <br />Mr. VUitwer added that the neighborhood <br />group will also help staff decide which <br />alternative would be the best one. <br />Mr. King noted that this has been a progress <br />report on the investigation the Commission <br />asked the staff to perform, so it's not a public <br />hearing and there won't be formal action <br />taken to expand the area or create a new <br />development area today. However, he <br />opened the floor to anyone present who has <br />an interest in the project and wished to speak <br />19 <br />
