Tax Abatements <br />() continued... <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Hojnacki, seconded <br />by Mr. King and unanimously carried, the <br />Commission approved Resolution No. 2260 <br />approving an application for real property tax <br />deduction for South Bend Chocolate <br />Development Corp. at 128 S. Michigan St. <br />(2) Commission approval requested for <br />Resolution No. 2261 approving an <br />application for real property tax deduction <br />for property in the Northeast <br />Neighborhood Development Area. <br />(Geraldine Meehan and Cyril O'Regan) <br />Mr. Schalliol gave the staff report on the <br />project. Geraldine Meehan and Cyril <br />O'Regan plan to construct a 2, 200 sft, four- <br />bedroom, three-bath, two story residential <br />home with a front porch and atwo-car <br />garage. The construction of this home will <br />help to anchor the area of North Notre Dame <br />between Howard Street and Corby Ave., and <br />will serve as the primary residence for a <br />family of three. The cost of construction will <br />be approximately $300,000. <br />The petitioner has not been granted any <br />previous tax abatements. The property is <br />properly zoned for the proposed use. The <br />property is in the Northeast Neighborhood <br />Development Area, which is a Tax Increment <br />Allocation Area; therefore, the abatement <br />first must be approved by the South Bend <br />Redevelopment Commission.
