Airport Economic Development Area <br />(1) Commission approval requested for <br />Amendment to Blackthorn Golf Course <br />2006 Budget. <br />Mr. VUitwer noted that at the May 19 <br />Commission meeting, the Commission <br />approved a contract with Boswell Golf <br />Design to evaluate and design changes to the <br />bunkers and the golf course to repair the state <br />the bunkers are currently in and to ensure <br />that Blackthorn remains the premier course <br />in the area. The consultant's estimate for this <br />project is $450,000. Only $100,000 was <br />budgeted in the capital budget for repair of <br />the bunkers. The staff is requesting an <br />increase in the golf course budget of <br />$350,000 from TIF funds to pay for the <br />renovation. The project would be <br />constructed over atwo-year span starting in <br />October 2006 and finishing before the 2007 <br />seasons begins. <br />At the June 23 Commission meeting, quotes <br />were received for improving the cart paths at <br />the golf course. The bids for that work were <br />$15,040 over budget. Staff recommends <br />increasing the budget in that line from TIF <br />funds to cover the additional cost. <br />Mr. VVitwer noted that the Blackthorn Joint <br />Committee which consists of members of the <br />Redevelopment Commission and the Airport <br />Authority stated its support of these projects <br />at its July 13 meeting. Staff recommends <br />approving anot-to-exceed amount of <br />$495,000 for both projects, which includes a <br />contingency for both projects and to <br />authorize the Board of Publc Works to <br />29 <br />
