South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -April 21, 2006
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
F. Airport Economic Development Area
() continued...
recommends approving the low quote from
City Awning in the not-to-exceed amount of
$15,000.
Upon a motion by Mr. Blake, seconded by
Mr. Hojnacki and unanimously carried the
Commission approved request for proposals
for an awning for Blackthorn Golf Club
Pavilion and accepted the proposal from City
Awning for the scope of services in an
amount not to exceed $15,000.
(2) Commission approval requested for
proposal for renovation in the Blackthorn
Golf Club Clubhouse.
Mr. Hojnacki asked if these types of items
need to be approved by the Commission.
Ms. Greene responded that when public
property requires improvement or renovation,
we are required to follow the procedures set
by statute. When the cost is under $25,000
we must solicit three quotes and approve the
selection at a public meeting. A public
entity, spending public funds, must allow
everyone an opportunity to participate.
Keeping the action public allows scrutiny to
guarantee that opportunity. Commissioners
would like to consider combining multiple
items of this nature into one item and motion.
Mr. VUitwer noted that Golf Course
Management received three quotes for repair
of the men's restroom at Blackthorn Golf
Course Clubhouse. Staff has reviewed the
quotes and recommends accepting the
COMMISSION APPROVED REQUEST FOR
PROPOSALS FOR AN AWNING FOR BLACKTHORN
GOLF CLUB PAVILION AND ACCEPTED THE
PROPOSAL FROM CITY AWNING FOR THE SCOPE
OF SERVICES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$15,000
21
