South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting —July 20, 2001
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
a. (Continued...)
Mr. John Brenneman, owns property on East
Broadway. He asked what the timetable is for
this particular area. He wanted to know why his
property was not purchased in the original
acquisition. Code Enforcement has required
him to make improvements in the interim.
Mr. Mariani responded that it would depend on
the budget, but he expected it to be in about two
to three years.
Mr. James Pittman said that he would like to
know the timetable also.
Mr. James Masters stated that he has filed a
written remonstrance with the Commission on
behalf of his client TIMM, Inc. His client is
leasing the property at 400 West Sample and has
an option to purchase the property. His client
has plans for the property. Without a timetable
for acquisition, his client will not be able to
develop his property and he will be unable to get
a mortgage.
Mr. Bill Watterud also wanted to know the time
frame for acquisition along Lincolnway.
Mr. Mariani said that there was no definite time
frame, as yet but, they expect to be working on
these areas within the next two to three years,
acquiring the properties closer to Sample St.
first.
The technical problems are corrected and at
this point, the public hearing is reported in the
minutes verbatim.
10
