SPECIAL MEETING FEBRUARY 1, 2011 8 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in a Special Meeting at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 with <br />Board President Juanita Dempsey and Board Members Patrick D. Cottrell, and Eddie Miller present. <br />Board Members Bruce BonDurant and Laura Vasquez were absent. Also present were Police Chief <br />Darryl Boykins and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13th Floor County City <br />Building, South Bend, Indiana. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />ACCEPT LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE OF DISCIPLINE AND APPROVE AND ENTER <br />FINDINGS OF FACT — CHARGE NO. 2011 -01— CHRISTOPHER BORTONE <br />President Dempsey read a letter of Acceptance of Disciplinary Action presented to the Board by <br />Chief Daryl Boykins, Police Department. In the letter, Patrolman Christopher Bortone stated he <br />accepts the disciplinary action of thirty (30) days suspension recommended by the Chief. Attorney <br />Thomas Bodnar stated he has drafted the Findings of Fact for the Board's approval, stating that <br />Christopher Bortone be suspended without pay from the South Bend Police Department for a period <br />of thirty (30) consecutive calendar days to begin on a date chosen by the Chief of Police. Upon a <br />motion by Mr. Cottrell, seconded by Mr. Miller and carried, the letter of acceptance of discipline was <br />accepted and the Findings of Fact were approved entered as outlined above. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, President Dempsey declared the meeting <br />adjourned at 8:14 a.m. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br />uanita Dempsey, President <br />r <br />Patrick D.
