South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting — January 2, 2002
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
A. Public Hearing (Continued...)
(1) (Continued)
anticipates spending less money in 2002
than in 2001.
Mr. Nissely continued that they
anticipate having an increase in rounds
during the 2002 golf season. The golf
season is anticipated as April through
October; however this year we were able
to sell rounds through November. The
extra rounds during November helped to
increase revenue over what was
budgeted.
Mr. Nissely said that the anticipated
rounds for 2002 are about the same as
2001, showing growth in the real golf
season. Forecasts are based upon no
increase in rates for the year 2002. All
the daily fee rates for residents and
nonresidents should remain the same.
Mr. Nissely explained that Blackthorn
Golf Course plans to concentrate on a
value -added marketing and packaging
strategy for both the daily fee and the
Association program by maintaining
prices, grabbing rounds, and bundling.
The goal of this strategy is to increase
rounds during low -play times.
Mr. Rock added that this budget has
been approved by a joint committee of
the South Bend Airport Authority and
the Redevelopment Commission.
Mr. Hunt opened the Public Hearing on
M
