South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting — January 18, 2002
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
D. Sample -Ewing Development Area
(1) continued...
Allocation Area No. 8) Special Fund and
setting a Public Hearing for February 01,
2002 at 10:00 a.m.
(2) Approval of Voluntary Remediation
Agreement with The Indiana Department
of Environmental Management for Oliver
Plow Works property.
Mrs. Kolata noted that we previously
submitted an application to the Indiana
Department of Environmental Management
to bring the Oliver Plow property under the
voluntary remediation program. This is an
agreement that spells out the requirements
that we must meet in order to participate in
the program. We intend to request some
minor changes, including changing the
applicant's name to the Redevelopment
Commission, not the City of South Bend.
However, we need to return the agreement by
January 20, so would like the Commission's
approval at this time. Mrs. Kolata noted that
timely submission of this agreement will
enable us to bring the remediation of the
Oliver site in under the former cleanup rules
rather than new ones.
The agreement stipulates that the staff will
submit a remediation work plan within six
months. Our environmental consultant,
Envirocorp will prepare the work plan. IDEM
will review the plan and approve it; following
completion of the remediation as outlined,
the Commission will receive a covenant
E
