South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting —April 17, 2003
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
C. Airport Economic Development Area
(1) Commission approval requested for
extension of time for construction in the
Airport Economic Development Area.
(Deluxe Sheet Metal)
Mr. Case reported that a request was
received by Lone Wolf Enterprises, LLC
(Deluxe Sheet Metal) for an extension of
time to complete their construction project
in the Airport Economic Development Area
from April 30, 2003 to July 31, 2003. This
is the third extension of time requested by
Deluxe Sheet Metal. Mr. Case introduced
Mr. Kevin Smith from Deluxe Sheet Metal
to explain the need for additional time.
IL- Mr. Smith advised that there are two reasons
for requesting the extension. The first is the
original roofing materials supplied were not
up to the high standards they have for the
unique building. Replacement of the roofing
materials caused a delay of four to five
months. The second reason was the
uncertainty of what space in their current
location the Studebaker Museum would
take. That issue has been resolved and will
now move forward quite quickly. Mr. Smith
expressed that they plan to be in the building
by the end of July 2003.
Mr. Hunt asked if the July 31, 2003 date was
a reasonably firm date.
Mr. Smith responded that the difficulties
resulted in not knowing exactly what
facilities needed to be replicated, and now
that it is quite clear, further action can be
accomplished quickly.
11
